METHOD

"This is an unattractive name for a delicious time and money saving soup concocted on the mess decks of Her Majesty's larger ships. Every month, just before the victualling allowance is credited to each mess, it is the practice to clear out every particle of food left over from the previous month. To do this, every scrap and can of edible left-over food is piled willy nilly into a large pot and heated through... tastes wonderful!

It's best to start with canned soup as a base into which you can put any kind of meat or poultry, beef, pork spam, corned beef, etc, all diced up and chucked in besides canned peas, baked beans, tomatoes etc. Amazingly, the flavour is nearly always the same... absolutely delicious. It's great for small informal parties, or those supper breaks at the end of the third rubber of Bridge."
